Comcast Extends Internet Essentials Program

Comcast announced that it will extend its Internet Essentials program indefinitely (beyond its initial three year commitment). Internet Essentials is Comcast's national broadband adoption program for low-income families. It provides low-cost broadband service; the option to purchase an Internet-ready computer; and multiple options to access free digital literacy training in print, online, and in-person.

According to Comcast Corporation Executive Vice President David L. Cohen, the initiative has connected more than 1.2 million low-income Americans, or 300,000 families, to broadband Internet at home in just two and a half years. Addressing the digital divide is a huge priority at Comcast, and the company believes that "the Internet has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and inspire a new generation of leaders." Learn more>>
