WASHINGTON – In response to the passing of Sen. John McCain, the President of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, Indiana State Representative Gregory W. Porter, released the following statement:
“The National Black Caucus of State Legislators sends its sincere condolences and sympathies to the McCain family during this difficult time. Sen. McCain led a life that was dedicated to service. He was a proud veteran of the United States Military and faithfully served the people of Arizona for 35 years as a legislator. By taking unpopular stances on controversial issues in the legislature, he epitomized what it means to put the welfare of the nation above partisanship or personal interest. His life and contribution to this country will be memorialized in American history and serve as a shining example for future Americans.”
