NBCSL APPLAUDS RECENT GUILTY VERDICTS IN AHMAUD ARBERY MURDER TRIALS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Black Caucus of State Legislators applauds the recent three guilty verdicts in the Ahmaud Arbery murder trial.

On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, Gregory McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William Bryan were found guilty in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, a black man who was fatally shot while out for a run last year in Georgia.

“I am glad that justice has been served, too many times our young black men are killed by our white counterparts with no consequences. We applaud the jurors who saw fit to hold these men accountable for the senseless murder of Ahmaud,” said President Billy Mitchell, “We will continue to fight for justice for all our young black men and women and we hope that our justice system will join us in this fight. Enough is enough—our work is not done. This is only the beginning.”
