The National Black Caucus of State Legislators’ Statement on the 2024 General Election

The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) congratulates all of the newly elected officials across America who won local, state or national races in the 2024 General Election. We applaud everyone who participated in the democratic process and voted early, by mail or on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

For decades, NBCSL, a bipartisan organization, has successfully established effective working relationships with presidential administrations, and will continue the same process with the next administration. We are looking forward to collaborating with all state legislatures as we strive to improve the lives of all Americans.

As the 2024 election cycle wraps up, it remains historic on many levels. This year, America not only nominated a Black woman as leader of a major political party, but voters also added two Black women to US Senate for first time ever. This continuous rise of political power and subsequent advancement in representation in the highest levels of American politics reinforces a relentless pursuit of inclusion since the days of slavery.

Every step forward is a vital part of America’s story and American democracy.
