The membership of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators(NBCSL) join the rest of the nation in congratulating President-Elect Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and Vice-President Elect Kamala Harris on their historic election as the 46th President and Vice-President of the United States of America. In a record turnout of the US electorate, the Biden-Harris ticket, fueled largely by voters of color, was both the popular choice and the choice of the Electoral college.
According to President Gilda-Cobb Hunter I am so proud of the turnout across the country for the Biden-Harris ticket. People were determined to vote in spite of the barriers placed in their way. Imagine what the numbers would have been without the voter suppression! The challenge for all of us is to not let up on the voter education and mobilization efforts responsible for the Biden-Harris victory.
