One Alabama senator wants schools across the state to start anti-bullying programs and is proposing a plan to fund the effort.
Sen. Rodger Smitherman, D-Birmingham, has filed legislation that would appropriate at least $14.7 million from the state’s Education Trust Fund to be split among every elementary, middle and high school in the state to start anti-bullying programs. Specifically, the bill calls for $10,000 to be given to each school to start such programs.
