“The National Black Caucus of State Legislators Mourns the Passing of Civil Rights Activist Dexter King, Son of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Washington, D.C. — The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) releases the following statement regarding the passing of Dexter King, the youngest son of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and a prominent advocate for social justice and equality:

“The National Black Caucus of State Legislators offers its deepest condolences on the passing of Dexter King. Today, as we reflect on his legacy, we extend our sincere appreciation for his tireless advocacy and steadfast commitment to the pursuit of civil rights, justice, and equality for all. Devoted to carrying forward his father’s legacy, Dexter’s commitment to the principles of nonviolence and his unwavering dedication to the cause of civil rights established him as a respected and influential figure in the ongoing struggle for social justice.

Throughout his life, Mr. King played a pivotal role in fostering racial harmony. He upheld his father’s ideals of love, equality, and unity, working tirelessly to bridge the divides in our society. As the Chairman of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change, his leadership and advocacy served as a source of inspiration for countless individuals and communities, encouraging them to join the fight for justice and equality.

Today, we remember Dexter King as a beacon of hope.  May his inspiring contributions continue to guide us in the ongoing pursuit of a more just and equitable society.
